43,770 Cases of Dengue recorded during the first half of 2017
The Department of Health (DoH) recorded 43,770 cases of dengue fever nationwide during the first half of the year of 2017. This is according to Dengue Disease Surveilance Report from January 1 to July 1, dengue cases in 2017, though it is lower by 36.8 %, compared to 69,287 in same period last year. Still the DoH is encouraging the local government units (LGU) to intensify anti-dengue campaign entitled ABKD or Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue and the 4 S campaign: to Search and Destroy mosquito breeding places; use Self -protection measure (like the use of mosquito repellents); Seek early consultation for fevers lasting for more than two days and Say Yes to fogging when there is an impending outbreak. ” According to Dr. Paulyn Ubial “ Dengue prevention should start from each and everyone. Make 4S a habit and participate in the Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue activities in the community. Together, let us fight and eliminate dengue-carrying mosquitoes and protect our families, friends, loved ones against dengue”.
